RECTORIAL BENEFICE OF EGLWYSILAN & CAERPHILLY
Registered Charity Number 1131172
Caerphilly is a large town on the outskirts of Cardiff. The Benefice has five very active churches; St. Martin’s is the Parish Church of Caerphilly, together with St. Catherine and St. Andrew serving the communities of Caerphilly and St. Ilan's is the Parish Church of Eglwysilan, together with the church of Saint Peter & Saint Cenydd serving the communities of the Aber Valley.
The Benefice of Eglwysilan & Caerphilly is part of the Diocese of Llandaff in the Province of the Church in Wales and is within the Anglican Communion of churches throughout the world. Our purpose in Caerphilly is to promote the mission of the Church in Wales in aiding community cohesion through provision of activities for older people, children and other specific groups.
The Eucharist is the central act of worship in the Christian Church and is therefore celebrated in various churches on Sunday mornings. We use the modern rite of the Eucharist – Holy Eucharist 2004 – approved by the Governing Body of the Church in Wales in September 2004. Thus the worship is lively, vibrant and serves the modern age well.
There are a number of devotional activities spanning the five churches, from Bible Study, Prayer Groups, Discussion Groups, Minsitry of Healing & Reconciliation and weekday celebrations of the Holy Eucharist (Mass).
There is a balance of social activities to complement the spiritual life of the parish with a varied programme of functions. These can be accessed on the news/events page of this website.
A monthly Magazine is published which gives many interesting articles on the life of the benefice. Also there is a weekly newsletter called the Weekly Notice Sheet that gives an update of all that is happening on a day to day basis.
A very warm welcome is offered to everyone at our services. Children are welcome, if they make a noise we are glad because we know they are there! If you are visiting, then please introduce yourself.
